Malindi Prison Ministry

Finally reaching the Malindi Prison, after months of letters and meetings, was a relief-blessing. When we reached there, however, we found another team of church members prepared for ministry in the women’s prison. Because our goal is to support local pastors, we made every accommodation to them with many blessings. They were incredibly gracious to allow the Cindy B, Lori L, and Pr Njuguna to serve alongside them under their authority. The kingdom as it ought to be. Unfortunately photos aren’t allowable in the prison, but the testimonies were beautiful.

The chaplain, however, was our host in the men's prison and he took a great many photos for us. Praise God.

"Soap is like gold," said one prisoner.

Toilet paper, razors, toothbrushes and toothpaste, and soap
 for 200 male prisoners and 50 female prisoners.

The men were so sincere in their appreciation
for these simple gifts as we greeted almost every one of them.

The best word to describe our time of worship with the male inmates is solid. Solid was the sound that rang out. Sure, precise, confident, forceful. I've never experienced worship like this. Magnificent.

The condemned inmates were reminded of the 600 other men who were not inside the church and the charge they have in showing them Jesus. The tone of their worship was entirely different than the whole group worship, almost more beautiful. To be honest, I'm not sure if the tone of sadness is only in my heart or if it really comes out in the worship.
